Commuter Challenge

Challenge Rules

How do you get people to commute even though it's cold, dark, and often icy? Simple, tie points to temperature - "The Worse It Is, The Better It Is". And it's worked, we have more people commuting when it's -20C than when it's above zero!

The Challenge generally runs from November to March. Team Spin reserves the right to change these times at any point.

The rules are actually pretty simple:

1.

Human-powered commuting only: bicycle, run, ski, etc. Cars and buses don't count.

2.

1 point for every complete commute (to work & back home) in temperatures of -1C and above (determined at approximately 7:30-8am in Calgary). 1 point per degree for temperatures below -1C. e.g. Freddy Frostbite commutes for three days, temperatures are +5C, -3C, and -35C. He gets 1+3+35=39 points for this.

3.

Ya can't compete if ya live so close that it doesn't make sense to come any other way than by self-propelled means UNLESS you take extraordinary measures. We have two participants who will go out of their way to increase the length of their walk to work for points.

4.

Logging of daily commutes is up to the individual on the good-old-fashioned honour system. There is only pride on the line anyways, so if you cheat, you suck.
